Sinless Cookies: Munch On These Guilt-Free

I’ve been seeing this recipe floating around on Facebook, but I can’t find it’s origin so I’m putting up my own take on it to refer back to.

Now, let me be clear. These are not what I would call cookies. I see them as a healthy, cookie-substitute that will satisfy your sweet tooth. They are nutritious enough to give to your kids and feel like you’ve really provided for them. Protein, fiber, potassium and fruit. No eggs, oil, butter, sugar, flour or dairy (provided you use vegan chocolate chips, like I did, since that’s what I had in the pantry). They’d also make great nursing “cookies,” since they’re chock full of oats!

Do I love them? No. Do I like them enough to eat them instead of Birthday Oreos, when I’m feeling guilty about the number on the scale? Yes. Are they worth a try? Absolutely. They are the easiest baked good I’ve thrown together in as long as I can remember.

You could experiment with other mix-ins, too. Craisins, dried cherries, white chocolate or yogurt chips? YUM! Have at it and let me know what you think…

pb & chocolate banana oatmeal smoothie: it’ll keep you full until lunch!

PB and Chocolate Banana Oatmeal SmoothieAfter my fiasco with PB2, I’ve been working on perfecting a peanut butter chocolate banana smoothie for my morning breakfast. I wanted something healthy, tasty but, most of all, substantial. If I’m gonna call a smoothie a meal, it sure as heck better fill me up (not an easy task when you’re eating for two). A few weeks and a few tester batches later, I’ve finally come up with a smoothie that meets all the criteria.

copycat Jamba Juice smoothie (that even your toddler will love)!

Copycat Jamba Juice Smoothie (Your Toddler Will Love It!)When the husband’s away, the wife will…shop! Guess who got herself a brand new NINJA ULTIMA!?!?!?! (It’s me!)

After coveting my sisters’ and a few girlfriends’ Ninjas, I said to myself, “Self, you deserve smoothies. Every day. Whenever you want them. You should be allowed to have them.” So off to BJ’s I went. I scored my Ninja Ultima for a slammin’ deal- on sale for $189! It came with horsepower. It came with a professional-looking pitcher. It came with not one, not two, but THREE individual cups. So each of us can have a different smoothie, if that’s what our hearts desire! This thing is super sexy.

So far, I can’t stop myself making the same smoothie over and over. It’s my copycat Jamba Juice Banana Berry smoothie. You know the one. Banana-y, blueberry-y, price-y. I love my homemade version for its freshness, cost effectiveness and for the fact that I don’t have to drive to get it (is there even a Jamba near Fayetteville?), but even better than that- Madeline loves it, too. And all it is is fruit, yogurt and a little bit of ice. Delicious and nutritious!
