a good day.

I just wanted to say that I’m having  a good day.

Lily the Goldendoodle and Hudson the German Shepherd on the stairs

Last night I let the puppies sleep in our room. Turns out Hudsie is a total champ at this. He layed down next to my side of the bed and hunkered hardcore. Even Lily did well. She was quiet and sweet and tired. I woke up once at 3:45, and they were walking around the room a little bit. Then Lily licked my hand and Hudsie stuck his nose in my face. Then they both laid back down and slept until 6:15! I was surprised and happy. I think sleeping together in our room made them a little less crazed and manic in the morning. Normally, when we let Hudson out of the crate, Lil goes batty and starts growling and leaping and biting, like she hasn’t seen him in years and needs to play with him that instant or it will kill her. This morning, after a night of sleeping side by side, my puppies walked down the stairs with me, went out and ate their breakfast amazingly peacefully. I love them a lot. Even if they do wreck things (Hudsie-boy) and bark way too much (Yipad, I’m looking at you).

Next, because I was up earlier than I needed to be, I had time to wash the dishes that were piling up in the sink. An empty sink really can make you feel like your whole house is much cleaner. Refreshing.

Then on my way to work, I stopped at Walmart (bleh) for a special treat I’ve been craving- Candy Cane Lane Celestial Seasonings tea and some local honey! When my friend, Ouja, blogged about this- “it elicits thoughts of a snowy morning, putting up a Christmas tree, and cozying up to a comfy Ralph Lauren knit throw on the couch” -I knew I needed this tea ASAP. And, boy, was she right! I am about two sips away from putting a Christmas station on Pandora!

Later, I have my last knitting class with the gals from work. I am going to be binding off my first ever scarf (that I started 10 years ago when I first learned and then forgot how to knit). I’m continuing my garter stitch charcoal gray scarf. AND I bought new, huge 11s (needles) and some thick yarn, and I’m going to see how fast I can start whipping up even more scarves (Christmas presents perhaps).

I’m having a good day.

1. The best part of October was going to the pumpkin patch with a few couple friends. In addition to the patch, there was an awesome corn maze, which took an hour and a half to traverse. Plus delicious sweet corn and cider at the end!

The other best part of October? The birth of my newest nephew, Joseph Oliver!

2. The worst part of October was that I skipped the gym for a week and now I’m struggling to get back on the wagon.

3. For Halloween, I’ll be a witch.

4. I hope that in November I finish my scarf that I’ve been knitting, I get to hold Joey and Sammy a ton at Thanksgiving and I eat so much that I pop a button during Thanksgiving dinner.

5. Wifey has posted MilSpouse Secret Santa

. I  will most definitely be participating. It’s my first one!

today’s mantra.
