Ultimate Baby Registry: 9 Bedtime Products Every New Mom Needs

Ultimate Baby Registry - 9 Bedtime Products Every New Mom NeedsWhen it came to rocking knocking out our new baby for sleep, we swore by the 1-2 punch: the 5 S’s in combination with these bedtime must-haves. Just click on photos and/or product names to find out where to purchase. FYI: I have not been compensated by any of the brands endorsed below. These are my own recommendations, baby-tested and mom-approved.

1. Summer Infant SwaddleMe These velcro swaddles were the easiest way to secure our newborn for sleep. For the first few months, Madeline slept peacefully in these swaddles, without breaking out. They are easy to fasten and you don’t have to undo the velcro to get to a diaper change! We had two of these. More would be better.

2. Miracle Blanket Also known as the baby straight jacket, when applied correctly, your baby will be swaddled into a slumber-full submission in no time! Best for bigger babies, Madeline was about three months old when she started breaking out of the SwaddleMes and we started restraining her in this guy. I reccomend registering for two of these, in case one edures the wrath of spit up or a blowout.

3. Halo Sleep Sack Swaddle Can you tell we were all about the baby restraint + warmth (aka the winning sleep combo)? Lovingly known as the jammie jacket in our house, we used a Sleep Sack Swaddles to keep the baby contained and cozy, as the final transition between swaddle and free sleep. You can start fully contained, then leave one arm free and finally just swaddle around baby’s body like a warm hug at anywhere from 5-7 months old (depending on your baby’s mobility).

4. MAM Pacifier In my experience, pacifiers soothe a crying baby when you’ve tried everything else. MAMs are orthodontic, symettrical, comfortable and colorful. Some even glow in the dark (pro-tip: keep these in the crib)! Register for 2-4 newborn size and then at least 6 in 0-6 month size. We lose them all over the house. Six means I at least know where ONE is at any given time.

5. PaciPlushies These guys are the Wubbanub for MAM babies. The stuffed animals are easy for the baby to grab on to, and they attach to our beloved MAM pacifiers! Finding the spit-out paci in pitch black room (or while driving) has never been easier with these guys around!

6. Fisher Price Rock-N-Play I was given a Rock-N-Play at my baby shower, although I hadn’t registered for it. (Thank you, Erica!) The first night home, Madeline started to aspirate on her back in the pack-n-play. I quickly popped this open next to my bed and felt much more comfortable knowing she was at an incline and couldn’t choke. (Inclined sleep is great for babies with acid reflux, too!) Maddie slept in this lifesaver next to our bed for the first three months, before moving to her crib. It was also great to tote around the house for naps!

7. Carters Cotton Baby Blankets These stretchy cotton blankets are the best for DUDU wraps (the down-up-down-up swaddle from Happiest Baby On The Block). They also come in handy for laying down on the changing pad, for a lightweight carseat blanket, for draping over the carseat to block the sun, for wrapping up your wet hair (moms, would you believe!?). A pair of these blankies are a great addition to your registry.

8. Aden and Anais Muslin Blankets These beautiful blankets are all the rage, and it’s obvious why. They’re great for swaddling, they’re breathable and they get softer with every wash. Plus they can pull double duty as a nursing cover, burp cloth, tummy time blanket and more. The adorable patterns don’t hurt their cause either! Your always on-trend BFF will probably pick these off your registry.

9. Goosewaddle Blanket When putting your baby down to sleep in the Rock-N-Play (or swing as the case was us for naps), I definitely recommend a heavy blanket to lay over the top of their swaddled self. You know how the lead blanket at the dentist makes you feel? Secure, warm and cozy? This is the same concept. Goosewaddle is your baby’s lead blanket. Read more about why I love them here.
