1. What is your favorite MilSpouse blog (not including Wife of a Sailor, who we all love, or your own)?submitted by Our Crazy Life

I love to follow Jessica @ {Mis}Adventures of an Army Wife. I think she is real, thoughtful, relatable and funny.

2. What are your favorite perks about your husband being deployed (we all know there are perks)? submitted by Ramblings of a Marine Wife
Well, recently I went to a Battalion Valentine’s Dinner. Operation Homefront of Colorado donated huge Mary Kay makeup and skincare bags AND Arbonne skincare and robes to all of the wives in attendance. As I was gathering up all my loot, I actually said the words, “I’m so glad Andy’s deployed!!” Obviously, I did not mean that, but it is really nice to feel so taken care of and respected while he’s gone.

I also like to be in control of the remote.

3. How long did you date your husband
before getting engaged? Married? submitted by Utterly Chaotic
Andrew and I dated for almost four years before getting engaged on July 4, 2009, on the beach underneath fireworks. Most patriotic couple? Yes.

We got married less than two weeks later in the courthouse, and we had our wedding in the Church with our family five months later on 12/12/09. Most stereotypical military couple? Yes.

4. What do you think your husband would do if s/he wasn’t in the military? submitted by Adventures of M-Squared
I think he would be living The Big Bang Theory as his reality. He would be Leonard and I would be Penny.

4. If you could talk to the Secretary of the Army what is one suggestion you would like to bring to their attention in order to improve the lives of military families?  submitted by My Life as His (Air Force) Wife
I would like to suggest shorter deployments. We are the only branch of the US Military to fulfill year long tours. It is too long. Shorter deployments would give Army families at least a fighting chance at normalcy. That’s all.

  1. Update: Dated for four years. It was five years last year before our first anniversary, and it will be six years this September 4th.

  2. That’s awesome that you got engaged on the 4th of July under fireworks!! And I LOVE Leonard and Penny, that’s one of my favorite shows 🙂

  3. Your fireworks proposal makes for a lovely story. 🙂

  4. I would wish for shorter deployments too. AF vet and wife here so I know how the shorter deployments are. I try to tell the ones who complain here (no one likes deployments) that they are lucky they’re only going for 4-6 months because others sacrifice more (12-16 months) at a time. 🙁

  5. whoa that was 5 years??

i have things to share, call me this weekend!

  6. Aww I love how small your countdown is now! Next time I visit he will be there too!! Would love to come in the summer…thoughts??

  7. Thanks, Stacy and To the Nth!! It was very romantic. Although at one point I did have to say, “Aren’t you going to get on one knee?”

Angie- 12 months is forever, but when you’re doing 6 months (if you’ve never done 12) that feels like forever, too. We’re all entitled to feel sad and lonley!

  8. Jessica @ {Mis}Adventures of an Army Wife says

Thank you for the shout out! As you might now, I’ve been a bit preoccupied this weekend, so I’m just catching up on blogs now. =)
